Before choosing artificial grass for a terrace, establish whether the proposed finish is suitable for the existing structure and surface. A flat-looking area is not enough to confirm that an installation will work.
Review the existing surface
Check drainage, outlets, levels and any waterproofing. Resolve persistent water or damaged surfaces before covering them. Doors, thresholds and inspection points must remain usable.
Confirm the installation requirements
Elevated or commercial terraces may have structural loading, fire performance, permission and fixing requirements. These need to be assessed for the proposed complete system. Do not drill or glue into a waterproof layer without an agreed method.
Plan ongoing care
Allow access for cleaning and removal of leaves. Confirm how furniture will be moved and how drains can be inspected after the grass is fitted.
