Stop!
Direct intense heat will burn your grass, please take additional care to not drop coals or wood on the grass if you are having a BBQ. If small disposable BBQs sit close to the floor, then we would say no, you shouldn’t use your synthetic lawn. We recommend setting your barbecue up on the patio or decking at a safe distance from your artificial lawn.
Keep your artificial surface pristine during the outdoor cooking season and arrange a separate barbecuing area.
Here’s a praHere’s guide to hosting a barbecue if you have an artificial lawn:
When are you planning the occasion
If you’ve already’ve your artificial grass, then no problems! But if you plan to have it done before a special event, give yourself plenty of time to install it. Always inform your surveyor if you have a date by which it must be completed.
Where to place your barbecue
We recommend setting your barbecue up on the patio or decking at a safe distance from your artificial lawn. The extreme heat generated by a barbecue can melt artificial grass, so it is better to try and avoid this if possible!
Only use an elevated barbecue on your grass if you are confident that no heat will transfer to the grass below. Or there will be no chance of hot oil or fat moving to the lawn.
What to ask of your guests
If you have guests who are smokers, provide them with an ashtray and ask that they do not put their cigarettes on the lawn. Cigarettes + artificial grass = unsightly burns.
How to clean up after
If you get ketchup or mayonnaise on the grass – don’t worry, don’t wipe it up with a wet cloth. If you find a lot of spillages, it may be worth rinsing the area or washing it with warm soapy water. Whilst liquids drain through the sub-base, some wash will eliminate residual stickiness!
With fire pits, they need to be positioned on a stone surface nowhere near the grass.

Likewise, keep candles away from the grass or use something to protect them. If a candle burns down to the bottom on a metal base, it will singe any grass, so place them in the soil beds if you have them.
Please do not use your SayGrass as a launchpad for ANY fireworks.
Don’t Let OfDon’teworks on Artificial Grass; never light fireworks on an artificial lawn. Even though your artificial grass won’t catch, any sparks will be hot and smoulder, potentially melting the fibres on your property.
Don’t allow Don’tids to throw their sparklers on the grass (or drop them).
We recommend keeping cigarettes away from your lawn area, placing any ashtrays a safe distance from the lawn area, and ensuring all your mates know your rules. It’s so easyIt’sforget when you are having a party.
