Installation of Artificial Grass

Practical artificial grass advice from the Saygrass archive.

Installing Artificial Grass in Your Home

It is necessary to carry out a correct artificial grass installation to ensure you will benefit from all its advantages. The material must be glued over the entire surface, and thus it will be well fixed on the support layer, the joints will be invisible, and you will avoid blunting the ends.

Before installing synthetic turf, several necessary steps must be taken:

Removing the furniture from the space where it is to be installed.

Levelling the support layer.

Cleaning the surface of dust or adhesive residues, if applicable.

Carrying out a test to check the moisture of the floor and walls – they must be perfectly dry.

The temperature in the space intended for artificial turf must be around 15 degrees Celsius at the time of installation, and the humidity in the air must not exceed 70%.

The material must be acclimatised to the space to be installed. The rollers must be unrolled and left 24 hours before installation in the respective area.

Installation of artificial turf, step by step

Measure the dimensions of the area where you want to install the artificial grass and make a plan to include doors and stairs, if necessary. To ensure that you have enough material, add another 5-10 centimetres to the calculated area.

According to the installation scheme, mark the areas where the material must be cut. With the help of a cutter, mow the lawn, following these markings.

The adhesive must be placed on the backing layer, not the fabric. It must cover the surface evenly. Use a water-based adhesive.

The excess material must be cut so that the floor fits perfectly in the intended space.

Use a solid metal object to run over the entire surface of the artificial turf to ensure better material adhesion.

The material can be cleaned, and you can step on its surface as soon as it has been installed. But specialists recommend 72 hours before using the floor.
