Artificial grass, synthetic grass and fake lawn are commonly used descriptions of manufactured grass surfaces. The wording alone does not identify the product or tell you whether it suits your project.
Compare specifications, not just names
Ask for the exact product name, pile height, backing, available roll widths and care instructions. Look at samples in daylight and from different angles. A photograph cannot show every difference in texture or feel.
Match the surface to its use
A decorative garden lawn and a specialist sports or putting surface can have different requirements. Explain the intended activity and ask about the complete installation, including base preparation and any specified infill or underlay.

Ask what is included
Compare the proposed groundworks, drainage, edging, waste removal and aftercare as well as the grass. Read the warranty information for the product and installation.
